Have a Classy Time in Brompton, SW10
Brompton lies just west of central London, deep within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The area consists of three elements: the Brompton Cemetery, the Old Brompton Road and the Fulham Road. The history of the area is one related exclusively to art as it was once almost completely a home for artists and writers, the names of which can be checked in the Survey of London.
The area is still a huge centre for arts and culture and it houses a plenitude of grand museums with remarkable displays. Among those museums are the Victoria and Albert Museum, the world’s largest museum for decorative arts; and the Natural History Museum, which holds a full account on the progress of evolution and has an example of every species of animal or plant on the planet. Another thing to witness there is the Brompton Oratory, also known as Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Holy Trinity Brompton Church and its great architecture can also be seen and visited.
Brompton also houses two very important hospitals – the Royal Brompton Hospital and the Royal Marsden Hospital. The former is the best heart and lung centre in the whole of the United Kingdom, and the latter, a specialised cancer treatment centre.
